9.14.22 Carla Harris Lead to Win x Dirty French
September 14th, the day that Carla Harris would be signing books in NYC at Barnes and Noble, was the same day we had Carla speak at our Rising Board dinner, and she did not disappoint. She shared stories about the journey from founder, to business person, to wearing many hats, to senior leadership, CEO and possibly exit. She told stories about blue cups and red cups, and how it is important to stick to your strength and not veer off the path to accommodate any and all requests. But mostly, she shared her, “Pearls of Wisdom”, which she listed in her book, Lead to Win. My favorite quote from Carla, “The best way to keep your power is to give it away”.

Our giving segment:
We raised money for two youth sports charities, the Martin Richard 8 (MR8) and Gronk Foundation programs. We also collected used sports equipment for schools in the underserved areas of NYC. We believe that youth sports is a great arena for leadership development and as leaders of our board room, we felt it was appropriate to pull our funds together to make donations to these charities, raising ~$1,000 in one evening.
